I am a hobbyist and academic with interests including computer science and language. I completed a Ph.D. in Linguistics from the University of California, Davis, in 2016, with a dissertation focused on a computational approach to language typology. (Dissertation here)
Since then I’ve been working as a software developer and university lecturer. In my spare time I enjoy tinkering with retro computers and TTL logic, playing music, gaming, and/or geeking out about linguistics.
I feel like hobby computing has had a bit of a resurgence via retro computing, which has driven my interest the past few years. My hope is that what I put on these pages will be helpful for anyone geeking out on these old models, old methods, and new diversions.
